I DID IT

I ran my first Half-Marthon --- with a few walk breaks. It was the Lake Placid Marathon and Half Marathon --- hilly course and very warm temps. I'm not really good with the heat --- and not the best on the hills......I will do more hill-training in the future. I finished running which was totally awesome to me!!
Hubby said I looked really good for just having run 13.1 miles.....and I felt great! I probably could have pushed a bit more but was happy to do it.
Looking at a Full Marathon in the fall --- not sure which one yet. We'll see how my training schedule goes. I'm very psyched.

Days to go

Days to go until the Half Marathon --- can't wait. We have stopped fighting -- at least for now it seems. It looks like the weather will be perfect this weekend for a good run.

We did not make it up to the boat last weekend, and won't get there this weekend either. Last weekend we went to a Yankees game --- spur of the moment gift of tickets from our kids......who got them from a neighbor. It was loads of fun --- took Matty (8 yr old). He got a bat --- it was Bat Day at the game.

I am very Psyched for the run on Sunday and it looks like we will know a few people up there --- so it is very cool. Hubby is volunteering to work the race ---- gets to see me start then reports to the volunteer tent. Should be fun.

One Week

One Week to go until the Half Marathon. I am very excited --- I've had some trouble running this week --- I am hoping it is just allergies --- a lot of wheezing. Hubby and I have been battling quite a bit also -- so could also be stress induced.

It is going to be a hot weekend --- I am planning on running early mornings to beat the heat. Otherwise --- planning on heading up to the Lake this weekend. Gala Friday night and then boat over the weekend. Need to bring my sneakers --- try to get a couple of runs in over the weekend.

Scarborough Beach

We spent Memorial Day weekend in Rhode Island with the "boys", Niki and Scott and Greg and Tina. G&T left on Sunday and the rest of us came back Tuesday. It was rainy Tuesday a.m. -- but not too bad -- had almost stopped when we were packing up. We had a beautiful mostly sunny weekend --- cold nights --- but we were able to sit around the camp fire each night. The 'boys' thought everything was one big adventure which made if fun for all of us. I think they will have fond memories of camping.

I ran for the first time on Scarborough Beach --- pretty incredible since I've been going to that area since we were kids --- and I'm turning 50 this year. I was so excited that I stopped and took a picture of myself.

Memorial Day Weekend

So far today has been pretty good --- hubby is on the road for Hertz and I'm in the office til 2:00. Then off to the dentist and errands. He has been pretty pleasant on the phone --- the weather is dreary --- cold rainy......I hope that it travels East before we get to RI tomorrow. It is supposed to clear up this afternoon. I am SO looking forward to going to RI --- one of my favorite places....Our favorite places. I just hope that we can get along this weekend. I think I'm the one who is starting a lot of this --- by not keeping my mouth shut when I find something annoying. Have to remember to just grin and bear it. Need to get out for more running --- it really helps me. We were fighting last night -- and I didn't run yesterday. Puts me in a 'mood' I guess. The weather is supposed to improve......

One-sided

This is the start of the blog ---- We were having a nice time packing and discussing what we would do over the memorial day weekend...........................cooked dinner -- nothing fancy. I think it started with discussing things in the paper --- a lot of politics -- nothing new --- hubby is into that --- I am not. So I tried to pay attention for a while, and finally said "please don't keep talking politics, I'm reading some other subject matter (food in this case). One of my main reasons for starting this blog is because I may not remember the details of our latest argument in the morning. Like a diary.....typical blogger. We went from not talking politics to talking about the fact that his son and his new wife are pregnant and worried about having Downs syndrome baby.....she is 41 --- (too many details to list). Then we said that if anything were to happen where she felt she couldn't deal with the new baby if it were Downs' === would we take the baby. Now we go from that to hubby suggesting that if we could take that baby why wouldn't we just adopt......some background. He is 61 --- I'm 49.....he has three grown children -- married with grandkids 7 grandkids.....I say let's just help out with the grandkids more.....turns into big argument --- which stems from my saying I dont want to retire from my job any time too soon....this is way too long....Good night for now.
